CCA Research Associates: Call for Researchers
CCA Derry~Londonderry is the leading art space dedicated to supporting emerging visual artists from Northern Ireland and their international peers. CCA is located within the historic city walls of Derry~Londonderry, the second city of Northern Ireland which sits on the border with the Republic of Ireland. CCA is artist-centred with recent projects featuring Grace McMurray, Alberta Whittle, Edy Fung, Mark Buckeridge, Julieta Aranda, Janie Doherty, Locky Morris and many more. CCA is a member of the Plus Tate Network.
Research threads through many areas of CCA’s activity. CCA supports research-based practice in various forms: from academic inquiry and critical discourse to the interests, enthusiasms and urgencies of diverse constituents.
CCA Research Associates
This programme began in 2020 designed to support research-based practice. CCA supports its Research Associates by providing access to our archives and networks, with the potential to develop longer-term projects with CCA. Each Associate's tenure takes different forms of support bespoke to the individual; previous Associates have become part of CCA's Exhibition and Public programmes, published audio works, used CCA as a referee, application and career guidance, critical feedback and more. Research Associates are profiled on CCA's website and their work is featured across our channels. The cohorts will present their practice at CCA in a public sharing event, bringing new audiences to their work as well as providing the opportunity to meet with the other Associates in person.
This call is for the fourth cohort of around 5 Research Associates (with at least 2/5 from NI) for a two-year tenure.
As a Research Associate, you will:
- feature on the CCA Research web page with links to your research
- be invited to join quarterly or bi-monthly group/individual online sessions covering one-to-one professional development, group peer critique, work in progress sessions
- have an opportunity to present your practice to CCA audiences online and in CCA
- access CCA networks and archives
- have use of CCA Workshop/Library/Project Space
- CCA will support Research Associates to secure funding for travel/accommodation to join a public Associates Meetup at CCA
- have CCA and the cohort as a critical friend and potential testing ground for outputs and impacts beyond academia
CCA is welcoming applications from artists with research-based practices, PhD candidates and other researchers based anywhere in the world with areas of interest that have a relevance to our region or programmes, however, we remain open to other applications.
To apply please email a covering letter, current CV, website/links, up to 5 images and/or texts and completed Equal Opportunities Monitoring Form with the subject heading 2022 RESEARCH ASSOCIATES by 1 October 2022 to info@ccadld.org
