New Project Announcement: The Hobby Cave
Hetain Patel invites you to share your favourite hobby and join the loudest presentation of our quiet pastimes.
'Hobbies to me feel like a mini protest against the powers that control our time and tell us what to do and who to be.'
The act of making objects by hand has always been central to Patel’s practice. Whether converting his first car into a real life Transformer robot or creating his own Spiderman suit at his kitchen table, a number of his celebrated artworks combine joyful childhood obsessions with serious reflections on identity.
Commissioned by Artangel with thirteen partnering organisations, this nationwide project will bring together en masse objects painstakingly created around the commitments of daily life by people from all corners the UK
From makers and modifiers to crafters and collectors, we want to hear from you to shape this ambitious celebration of everyday creativity and self-expression.
How to get involved: head to thehobbycave.org.uk and tell us about your favourite hobby.
