Ona Juciūtė's first week at CCA Derry~Londonderry for DeMo Residency

Our 2022 DeMo Reciprocal Residency artist, Ona Juciūtė, is one week into her month-long stay at CCA Derry~Londonderry.

She is drawn to the local history of shirt making in the city, and has been introduced to various sites that were formally garment and linen factories. The continuing legacy of garment making in present day Derry~Londonderry is making an impression on Ona's research thus far:

I am considering the durability and fluidity of cloth as witness to our histories, habits and beliefs as opposed to the stability and fragility of architecture. I'm focusing on drawing parallels between shirt making and dentistry, because of the stark cleanliness and diligence apparent in both disciplines.
