'The (not so) Gentle Self' - Youth Zine
The word ‘self’ is having a moment; you don’t have to look far to find an abundance of variants during lockdown: self-isolate, self-care, selfless, self-raising, self-service. With these multiplicities of the word, and the ever changing global situation, what does ‘self’ mean to you?
The CCA Youth Collective are proud to announce our first youth run publication, an open-call for our upcoming zine,
The (not so) Gentle Self – Isolation, Wellbeing and Mental Health.
The call is open to contributions from young creatives who call the North of Ireland home, written and visual: photography / poetry / illustration / reviews / essays / collage / painting / script / performance stills / and more…
What does isolation mean to you? How has lockdown made you feel? How do you self-care while in self-isolation? What does your quarantine routine look like? Where do the parameters of ‘self’ begin and end? How do you engage with yourself in a closed environment? How does your environment engage with you?
This can manifest in an infinite number of ways, and we’re interested to see which infinity you choose, don’t hold back.
The zine will be a PDF available online from the Youth Collective page of CCA’s website and also issuu, as well as a black and white hard copy available to collect from outside CCA (date TBC)
