booksvscigarettes: 'Instructions for the Assembly of Workspace'
Join us online on Thursday 11 February 2021, 6pm–8pm, for the next booksvscigarettes reading group event. We will be joined by writer Wendy Erskine who will read from Instructions for the Assembly of Workspace. This will be followed by a short discussion about the text.
This event coincides with Jan McCullough’s exhibition Tricks of the Trade which is accompanied by Instructions for the Assembly of Workspace, a booklet made by Northern Irish writer Wendy Erskine, designed by Sean Greer. Commissioned by Jan McCullough and developed through a collaboration and exchanges between the artist and writer, Wendy Erskine’s text provides a unique response to the themes of the artist’s work and the exhibition.
The reading will be accompanied by the short story Locksmiths by Wendy Erskine. This text is selected by Jan McCullough as it informs the research for the exhibition.
This online event is free, open to the public and will take place via Zoom. Click here to book on our Eventbrite page. If you have any questions about this event, contact our Public Programmes Curator Laura McCafferty on laura@cca-derry-londonderry.org
booksvscigarettes is CCA’s intermittent reading group. It takes its name from George Orwell’s essay which assessed the price and value of reading against other pursuits.
