BOUNCE FESTIVAL: Lough Fad A User's Guide Publication Launch & Performance

Ciarán Ó Dochartaigh is an artist, researcher and Gaeilgeoir from Derry, living and working sporadically with chronic illness as a legacy of post-colonialism. His mixed media practice explores complexities inherent within post-conflict experience and the embodiment of personal loss with the legacy of political violence and lived experience. The work interwinds and is inseparable from personal chronic illness and addresses these realities by invoking new encounters with care, kinship and community. He has an ongoing research relationship with a family of donkeys and, formerly, a group of snails. He is a PhD researcher in the art department at Goldsmiths and obtained an MFA at Goldsmiths College, London, 2010-2012. He was a Research Associate at CCA Derry~Londonderry 2020–2022.

Axel Feldmann is a graphic designer and design strategist based in London and Munich. In 2005 he founded the collaborative design studio Objectif, focusing on editorial design and its transposition into the architectural realm. Clients come from the fields of exhibition design, visitor experience, narrative environments, as well as classic book design. In the light of an increasingly instrumentalised and commodified cultural and public realm the studio has experimented with emancipatory design practices with the aim of supporting community initiatives, small-scale businesses and artistic practices, as well as creating museum spaces with a sense of empowerment of the visitor. In his most recent work Axel has launched a practice based design education project funded by the Greater London Authority, as well as a small publishing house supporting artistic talent.

Objectif is part of the Greater London Authority’s Design Framework, and a member of its Specialist Advice Team in relation to graphic design within the public realm. Axel holds a BA Graphic Design and an MA Philosophy and Contemporary Critical Theory.
