CCA Introducing: Renèe Helèna Browne
On Friday 26 November 2021 from 10am, follow artist and CCA Research Associate Renèe Helèna Browne as they take over our Instagram and Twitter pages to share their work and research for CCA Introducing 2021. CCA Introducing is a series of 24 hour social media takeovers by emerging artists. Each artist has been nominated by an artist or curator connected to CCA. The recommendation to invite Renèe to participate in CCA Introducing came from Mason Leaver-Yap, who contributed to Sarah Pierce's No Title publication for the exhibition of the same name.
Renèe Helèna Browne makes essay films, vocal soundscapes, and angsty drawings. They are 2021–2023 Talbot Rice Resident Artist with ECA at the University of Edinburgh. Recent things include screening at the European Media Art Festival No. 34 and aemi & Docs Ireland: Material legacies. Browne has been awarded the Experimental Film & Moving Image Residency at Cove Park in association with LUX Scotland and Alchemy Film and Moving Image Festival, and is shortlisted for the 2021 Sunset Kino Award with Salzburger Kunstervien for excellence in contemporary film. They are supported by the Visual Arts Bursary 2021 from the Arts Council of Ireland.
During the takeover, Browne will be sharing research as part of their first UK solo exhibition at the Centre of Contemporary Art Glasgow, running November–December 2021.
