CCA Introducing: Rosie O'Grady
On Monday 28 June 2021 from 10am, follow artist and curator Rosie O'Grady as she takes over our Instagram and Twitter pages to share her work and research for CCA Introducing 2021. CCA Introducing is a series of 24 hour social media takeovers by emerging artists. Each artist has been nominated by an artist or curator connected to CCA. The recommendation to invite Rosie to participate in CCA Introducing came from artist and film maker Aideen Doran, who was part of CCA Derry~Londonderry's 2018 exhibition Lavish and Judicious. Both Rosie and Aideen were residents at Talbot Rice Gallery's resident programme, 2018–2021.
Rosie O’Grady is an artist based in Glasgow, Scotland. Her practice manifests in video, performance, text, print, installation and temporary intervention. Acts of collapsing and flattening can be traced throughout her work – in its methods, material, and subject matter. Using these processes, the work often attempts to activate moments of disorientation, which unsettle our relationship to histories, bodies, information and objects. In 2018 she was awarded the Glasgow Open Bursary for Glasgow International, and was resident at Talbot Rice Gallery, Edinburgh 2018–2021. She has previously worked in programming roles, including as a committee member at Market Gallery (2014–2016), and developed a curatorial project in 2019 under the title Strange Weather.
