Culture Night: One Night For All 2022

For Culture Night 2022 CCA hosts an interactive screen-printing workshop for people of all ages, working in partnership with Derry Print Workshop. Ballads of Rhinestones & Newcomers artist Bojana Janković, an Eastern European artist based in NI exploring complex relationships between migration, displaced identities, migrant labour and discrimination. Bojana has been invited to select the images for the public to screen-print. The images are documentation of work in the exhibition - three images of maps and bus timetables, original artefacts from 1968, 1973 and 1982–1983 here subtly altered to reflect the migrant experience of the island. These form part of the archive materials from the exhibition.
This free drop-in workshop gives you the opportunity to print an original artwork and take it home with you on the night. No booking is required and the activity is suitable for ages 6+.
It will be held at CCA Derry~Londonderry, 10-12 Artillery Street. The live session runs from 5–8pm on Friday 23 September 2022. Tag us with your print @CCADLD #CultureNight22
This event builds on the partnership with Derry Print Workshop, who CCA partnered with to deliver the event 'Screen-Print Your Own Ephemera' in CCA in 2021. This event is supported by the Derry City and Strabane District Council.
Bojana Janković is an artist, PhD researcher and Visiting Lecturer in Performance Arts at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, and part of Migrants in Culture, a network organising for a culture sector without borders. Her performances, texts, installations and non-denominational works have appeared in physical and digital spaces across Europe, including at Tate Modern (London), Center for Art on Migration Politics (Copenhagen) and Tranzit (Bucharest). She is a CCA Research Associate.
