Dorothy Hunter - The Landis Museum - Residency 2
During her time in CCA, Dorothy Hunter will be considering Rijksstudio – a Pinterest-like tool that allows individuals to compile, crop, purchase, and download hi-res images of the Rijksmuseum collection – and the newly coined ‘synograph’ of 3D art editioning by tech startup, GENERAL PUBLIC; tools and processes that sit in contrast to the individualism and acquired aura of Mark Landis’ practice. Hunter will give a talk that responds to the proffering of art appropriation by institutions, the privileging of the surface, and the ‘hack appeal’ of commercial and institutional spaces of the art world. Accompanying the talk is a publication that Hunter will annotate by hand while publicly window-shopping at Rijksstudio.
Talk: 5pm, all welcome.
