LIAF 2015 – Disappearing Acts

CCA is one of three organisations curating a public seminar as part of Disappearing Acts (Lofoten International Art Festival, Svolvær, Norway), in Svolvær Filmteater.

CCA’s contribution to LIAF’s opening seminar takes as a starting point the decentring of human understandings of place. This decentring can be seen as part of a renegotiation of the human that includes expanded ideas of the post-human; a reassessment of animal agency; and a questioning of the ‘species barrier’ we have imagined between ourselves and the non-human world.

For this event, chaired by curator and academic Helga-Marie Nordby, Sarah Browne presents some of the research modes and ideas that emerged during her year-long public project in CCA dealing with animal/human relationships. Katja Novitskova and Agatha Wara conducts a public conversation touching on these ideas in an exploration of the material world around us, including human and non-human systems and entities.
