Pierrot
Pierrot is the last in our current series of ten window text commissions by artists, writers, and designers created during the 2021 lockdowns. In 2020/21 CCA ran a series of workshops by Meadhbh McNutt entitled Should artists write? Ten of the participants, including Meadhbh herself, were invited to create one page of text – a completely open brief. The texts range from dense, deeply personal accounts to bold slogans, each capturing the different thoughts and feelings of the author. The texts have been designed by different artists and designers and printed in a risograph edition by Derry Print Workshop.
The texts are visible from CCA's windows, each for two weeks, as well as visible online here and distributed across our region. All ten are now available as a bundle edition available to buy from CCA's shop as a fundraiser.

About the author & designer:
Meadhbh McNutt is an Irish artist and writer. Meadhbh was recipient of the 2020 VAI/DCC Art Writing Award. Her words and photography can be found in various publications including Tank Magazine, Circa Art Magazine and the Visual Artists’ News Sheet.
Meadhbh's writing practice traverses arts journalism, critical theory and creative writing. Her work is concerned with the flattening of complex subjectivity through the lens of surveillance, information and technology. Her most recent creative writing looks at the endurance of performative stock characters, borrowing from Tarot and Commedia dell'Arte archetypes.
