Window Text: Jane

The next in our series of window text commissions is Jane by Jude Browning and Cara Donaghey. Ten artists/writers were invited to create one page of text – a completely open brief. The texts range from dense, deeply personal accounts to bold slogans, personal, political, observations or a call to action, each capturing the different thoughts and feelings of the author. The texts have been designed by different artists and designers and printed in a risograph edition by Derry Print Workshop.

The texts are visible from CCA's windows, each for two weeks, as well as visible online here and distributed across our region. All ten will be available later in the year as a bundle edition available to buy from CCA's shop as a fundraiser.

About the author & designer:

Jude Browning is an artist in Glasgow working across writing, performance and live programming. "Jane" is a figure acting out and getting in the way of domesticated scenes. Gooey adjectives designate qualities and stick to derogatory judgements of girlishness; as the artist Karla Black says: It’s hard enough to make something that’s any good, so you may as well start with some sort of self-indulgence.

Cara Donaghey is a visual artist based in Donegal. Her artwork responds to archives and digital ephemera through printmaking. She is a member of Derry Print Workshop.
