Paper Knowledge is the next in our window text commissions by artists, writers, and designers. Ten artists/writers were invited to create one page of text – a completely open brief. The texts range from dense, deeply personal accounts to bold slogans, personal, political, observations or a call to action, each capturing the different thoughts and feelings of the author. The texts have been designed by different artists and designers and printed in a risograph edition by Derry Print Workshop.

The texts are visible from CCA's windows, each for two weeks, as well as visible online here and distributed across our region. All ten will be available later in the year as a bundle edition available to buy from CCA's shop as a fundraiser.

About the author & designer:

Kathryn Graham is a Belfast based visual artist and lecturer at Belfast School of Art. Kathryn graduated from the Royal College of Art with an MA in Print in 2019 having graduated from the Belfast School of Art with a
Fine Art degree in 2017. She achieved a Printmaking Fellowship at City & Guilds of London Art School in 2021.

Kathryn’s work is playfully constructed through printmaking and sculpture, engaging with storytelling that questions identity, time, memory, place, and space. She is interested in expanded printmaking, exploring the boundaries of print and its relationship to sculpture, installation, and painting.

K. Morgan is a writer and artist based between Glasgow and London, interested in formal experiments in writing, and in transforming by close attention. In 2023, Ingress, their suite of linked essays, was released by Pilot Press. Their essays, reviews and prose poems have been released with the likes of Sticky Fingers, Nothing Personal, Art Monthly, MAP, TISSUE, Camden Art Centre, Design Exhibition Scotland and Worms. In 2023 they were part of the inaugural Praxis programme with Fluent (Santander). At the moment they’re working out what their next book might be.

Paper Knowledge is a brief scraping up of text and drawings that think about different kinds of observing and putting down — and what is versus what when we think about paper knowledge might mean.
