Description
Screen printed tote bag produced for the CCA Edition launch, October 2019. Designed by Emmet Brown, based on the work of emerging researcher Jenny Carla Moran. Produced in 2018 in a collaboration between the Union of Students in Ireland (USI), BeLonG To Youth Services, and the Transgender Equality Network Ireland (TENI), An Foclóir Aiteach gathered and developed terminology with which to refer to the LGBTQ+ community in the Irish language. Moran’s research explores the decolonising and culturally reparative potential of LGBTQ+ language-creation in Irish and the edition’s title paraphrases a quote from Adrienne Rich’s poem, “The Burning of Paper Instead of Children” (1971): “This is the oppressor’s language yet I needed it to talk to you.”
